Country Floral Birthday Card

It is so time to think SPRING.  We are done with this winter and ready for some warm weather.  I so cannot wait to be able to open the house up and get some fresh air inside.

Well, I was thinking Spring with this card.

Wasn't I right? This card is so Spring.

I broke down and ordered the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Wow, that's a very long name for a small embossing folder.  After seeing other cards made with this folder, I couldn't resist.

Count how many colors are in this card.  Did you guess 5?

Doesn't seem like there are that many colors in this card, but there are.  I just kept grabbing another ink pad and continued to color.  Before I knew it, I had all these colors used.

In my card, I used the Aqua Painters.  Sometimes they can be too watery and that's not good.  You can also use the blender pens if the Aqua Painters don't work out.

Night of Navy Embossing Paste

We had a good club last night.  Good Wine, Good Pie and best of all, Good Company.  My club might be small, but we have a great time and area always laughing.  If anyone is interested in attending to check things out, let me know.  We would love to have new people join our tiny club.  We meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

So, last night we used the embossing paste again, but in a new way.

Can you tell what part is the paste?  It is actuallly the part that is Night of Navy.  I used the medallian decorative mask for this card.  I love all the clean lines.

Coloring the paste was actually really easy.  I just scooped a little out with a knife, added a few drops from the Night of Navy reinker and mixed the two together.  Mine was mixed to there was no white seen.  I would love to do something that was a swirl of color and white.

The story of how this card came to be. I knew I wanted to use this medallian mask and the embossing paste.  While looking through my stamp room, I noticed this Night of Navy twine that I never used.  That was my inspiration.  I decided it went well with Smoky Slate and since I only had the reinker of Night of Navy, I knew what color the paste was going to be.  Kind of easy.

Plus, the twine is covering a tiny smudge of the paste.  Double duty!

More Updates

This is going to be a quick post tonight with just a few updates.

The Call Me Cupcake framelits have been sold out.  They were on my wish list too, and I waited too long.  My loss.

The Bunny Builder Punch is also sold out.  The stock has been depleted.  They aren't expecting any more in until the end of April.  If you have this punch on backorder, it will be filled when they come back into stock.

The Doily Builder Thinlits Dies have run out due to an issue with the supplier.  This item will retire at the end of the Occassions Catalog due to this issue.

There are some framelits that are running low and once they are sold out, they won't be available to order.  They are:

Please be patient while Stampin' Up! sorts out all these issues.  I'm sure they are just as frustrated as we are.

Sweet Sunset

Another weekend has come and gone.  We have a great time last night at the EAA's Hops & Props event.  One thing I noticed was the sour ciders are very popular.  Naturally, I had to try a few and they weren't for me.  Give me a normal cider and I'm good.  Alyssa seemed to enjoy it too.  It was her first year and didn't mind hanging with her parents.  The food was awesome too.  The main sandwiches are usually from the Machine Shed restaurant around Waukesha.  I've never been there, but from what I had last night, I would definately go.

The best part was the dessert bar.  Chocolate fountains all around.  There were cookies, pretzels, graham crackers, and marshmallows to dip in the chocolate.  The absolute best was the bacon.  It was thick sliced and delicious on its own, but add the chocolate, out of this world.

On to business.

Over a year ago, I made this sunset card.  It was a friend's all time favorite card.  She just had a birthday and very subtly asked if I could make another for her birthday.  I couldn't say no, but at the same time, I couldn't make the exact same card.  I had to tweak it just a little bit.  So, here is her card, the newer and updated version.

Very similar, but you can see the differences.  I made the sunset much more prominent in this one.  The sky is Grapefruit Grove and Daffodil Delight.  For the sun, I sponged inside a circle with the same colors and added Blushing Bride.  It's just more saturated color and I love how it turned out.

The DSP I used behind the sunset is from Nature's Poem.  It's a very subtle pattern in Grapefruit Grove.  I didn't want a patterned paper to distract from the sunset and this is perfect.  I also added the cocktail in Grapefruit Grove.

I also did a little in the inside, but it's not Stampin' Up! but I still want to show you.  My friend loves her flip flops.  I've had this punch for years and never used it.  Glad I kept it.  They are adorable.

My friend loved her card.  I honestly like this one better than the first.  I think it's because of the sun.

Current SAB Updates

I'm ready for the weekend!  Tomorrow we are going to Oshkosh to see Alyssa.  She hasn't been home in several weeks, so we are looking forward to spending some time with her.  We are also going to the EAA's Hops and Props event.  It's actually a beer tasting event that is a huge fundraiser for the EAA.  And, since Alyssa is now of legal age, she wants to come with us.  Her old roommate is also coming.  We figured it would be a better time for her if she had a friend so they could go off on their own.  Regardless, we will have a great time.

The SAB Coordination products have been a huge hit.  I want to list the products that are still orderable.

If you are in love with the cupcake framelits, you might want to order them right away.  The buzz I've been hearing is that they are almost sold out.  So, I wouldn't wait if I were you.  Things have been going very quickly this SAB event.

Now for the most recent sold out news.  The Organdy Ribbon Pack sold out in just over a day.  Wowzers.  I would love to see that ribbon in the Annual Catalog.    Also, the Hop Around Framelits sold out.  They are the framelits for the So Hoppy Stamp set.  The Butterfly Elements and Precious Parcel Card Kit were sold out back in February.  What a sale this has been!

Don't forget about the 3rd Release that has recently been released.  There are some awesome items included.

Tasty Thursday - Prosciutto and Pesto Panini

What to have for dinner.  That was a very tough question today.  We couldn't think of anything that sounded good.  I tried to get chicken tenders and potato wedges from the grocery store, but they were actually out of the chicken tenders.  Seriously.  We never plan a diner with these, but the one time when we do...just our luck.

Onto Plan B.  What to have for dinner.

Surprisingly, I could actually get enough Wi-Fi to access Pinterest.  I've made this panini recipe several times and we all like it.  But with prosciutto, what's not to like.  it's an easy dinner, not a lot of prep needed.  Just what I needed tonight.  Here's the recipe.

Simple Sympathy Card

It's Hump Day!

It was my day to stay inside all day long.  Yahoo!!  Spent some time in my stamp room getting ready for club next week.  One card done, at least 2 more to go.  I have an idea with the embossing paste, now I just have to get to put my idea on paper.

One important update...the Organdy Ribbon Combo that I posted yesterday is now again sold out.  Wow.  I didn't think it would be that soon.  No word if we are getting more in so I will keep you posted as I find thing out.

It's never a good time when you need a sympathy card.  Here's a simple sympathy card for you.

The tree is from the Golden Afternoon Stamp Set.  The base is Very Vanilla with Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake.  Super simple color pallette.

I'm sitting here looking at this picture and I always think how it could be changed and made better.  To keep the color pallette even more simple, it would have been fun to stamp and emboss the birds with clear embossing powder.  Hmmm.

So, this is all I have for today.  Sorry, but I haven't been feeling well, and it's been wearing me down.  Time for bed.

You are Amazing

Happy Frigid Monday.  Again.

Seriously, Spring just doesn't want to come this year.  Maybe by June things will warm up a bit.

First some good news.  The Organdy Ribbon Combo is back in stock!!  It's in the SAB catalog, FREE with a $50 purchase.  It's been super popular so if you are interested, I wouldn't wait too long.  People have been waiting for this to come back.   Just yesterday, I used the last of the Lemon Lime Twist ribbon.  It made me soo sad.  I will miss that one.

Here is the card I used the last of the ribbon.

I finally used the Lovely Floral Dynamic Embossing Folder.  It's been in my stamp room for several months and I'm just getting around to using it today.  Amazing how that works, right?  Bet you NEVER do that.

Took a different approach today and went mono-chromatic.  Embossed the Lemon Lime Twist with the embossing folder and then just sponged more Lemon Lime Twist over the embossed ridges.  Brought out the details very nicely.

The card needed a little bit of definition so I added the mat of Whisper White and the Gingham Gala.  I also added Wink of Stella in the large flower petals.  Little shimmer never hurt anyone.

I will miss you Lemon Lime Twist Organdy Ribbon.
