Sweet Sunset

Another weekend has come and gone.  We have a great time last night at the EAA's Hops & Props event.  One thing I noticed was the sour ciders are very popular.  Naturally, I had to try a few and they weren't for me.  Give me a normal cider and I'm good.  Alyssa seemed to enjoy it too.  It was her first year and didn't mind hanging with her parents.  The food was awesome too.  The main sandwiches are usually from the Machine Shed restaurant around Waukesha.  I've never been there, but from what I had last night, I would definately go.

The best part was the dessert bar.  Chocolate fountains all around.  There were cookies, pretzels, graham crackers, and marshmallows to dip in the chocolate.  The absolute best was the bacon.  It was thick sliced and delicious on its own, but add the chocolate, out of this world.

On to business.

Over a year ago, I made this sunset card.  It was a friend's all time favorite card.  She just had a birthday and very subtly asked if I could make another for her birthday.  I couldn't say no, but at the same time, I couldn't make the exact same card.  I had to tweak it just a little bit.  So, here is her card, the newer and updated version.

Very similar, but you can see the differences.  I made the sunset much more prominent in this one.  The sky is Grapefruit Grove and Daffodil Delight.  For the sun, I sponged inside a circle with the same colors and added Blushing Bride.  It's just more saturated color and I love how it turned out.

The DSP I used behind the sunset is from Nature's Poem.  It's a very subtle pattern in Grapefruit Grove.  I didn't want a patterned paper to distract from the sunset and this is perfect.  I also added the cocktail in Grapefruit Grove.

I also did a little in the inside, but it's not Stampin' Up! but I still want to show you.  My friend loves her flip flops.  I've had this punch for years and never used it.  Glad I kept it.  They are adorable.

My friend loved her card.  I honestly like this one better than the first.  I think it's because of the sun.
