Cling Stamps

Cling Stamps

One big announcement Stampin' Up! made at OnStage was that they will be doing away with wooden stamps.  Didn't think that would happen, but sales have been declining over the past years.

Instead, they are going with new Cling Stamps.  They look just like the clear stamps with two differences.

1.  The labels that go on the stamps are now reconfigured so they will stick much better to the acrylic blocks.  Let me tell you, they will stick.

2.  Have care when taking off those acrylic blocks.  If you just pull them off, they might crack.  Carefully peel them off with your fingernail or a sharp pick.  I have no problem getting them off, but I do it carefully, at least until I get more used to them.

One tip I heard from other demonstrators is that some put a little piece of Washi Tape on a corner of the stamp.  This way you can take off the stamp starting with that corner and you won't crack the stamp.  I think this is a great idea and will be trying it myself.

If you want to watch a video on these new cling stamps, click here.  It is just over 4 minutes short.

Enjoy the new stamps.

Incredible Like You Sympathy Card

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  As usual, mine went way to fast.  Today was spend getting Megan packed.  She leaves tomorrow for her semester abroad in England.  Her suitcases are packed, just has to finish getting her backpack together tomorrow morning and she is ready.  My girls are going out for breakfast one last time together in the morning.  Then we are driving her down to Chicago to catch her flight.

The hard part is not knowing when she will be coming home.  We will book her return flight after she finds out when her last exam is, probably in June.  Soon, hopefully we will be able to start planning our trip to visit her.

Stampin' Up! is starting a campaign called Simple Stamping.  It's creating cards with minimal stamping/embellishments. Being simple doesn't mean it can't be elegant too.  Here is what I came up with.

It's a simple card in the fact that there is one flower stamped in the bottom corner.  But...the flower is a two-step stamp.  The base of the flower is Powder Pink.  The bottom, outside part is Flirty Flamingo.  Love how those two colors look together.  Pefect shades for a flower.  The stem is stamped in Pear Pizzazz.

I find it easier when doing a stamp like this, to stamp the lighter color first.  Easier to cover with the darker if needed.  The stem has to be stamped just under the flower.  If there is a slight gap, just get out the marker and do a touch up.

The pearls add a nice classic look.  Can't go wrong with classic.  In my eyes, the color combo is also a classic.

Lasting Lily SAB Stamp Set

Happy Sale-a-Bration!

What is Sale-a-Bration?

It's when you can get free product!  For every $50 spent, you get to choose a free Level 1 item from the Sale-a-Bration catalog!  If you spend $100, you have the choise of choosing either 2 Level 1 items or a single Level 2 item.

Is there a limit to how many items you can earn for free?

Good News!   There is no limit to the number of Sale-a-Bration items you can receive.  If you qualify, you can earn both Level 1 and Level 2 items.  The sky is the limit!

Can you earn Hostess Rewards during Sale-a-Bration?

In fact, there are additional Hostess Rewards during this time.  For every order that is $250 or larger, you can earn additional $25 in reward money.

Can I order from the new Occasions Catalog?

Yes you can!  You can order from the Annual Catalog as well as the new Occasions Catalog.  It's a great time to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin.  All subscriptions will be put toward SAB rewards.  Subscription very by the month.  Click on the Paper Pumpkin on the side of my blog for more information.

Now the business end is over, here is a card I made from the Lasting Lily Stamp Set in the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  It is a Level 2 stamp, so in order to receive this stamp set, your purchase has to be $100 or more.

I hate to have too many sympathy cards on hand.  Don't want to jynx myself.

This stamp, Lasting Lily, is perfect for this card.  We don't all need complex cards, sometimes the simple are the best.  I chose to stamp the lily in Rich Razzleberry, simply so I can use the velvet ribbon that is in the Annual Catalog.  The ribbon has been on my shelf, unopened.  Time to rectify that.

Stamp the lily, stem and then the sentiment.  Wrap a ribbon around and tie in a bow or knot.  Card done.

Heads up!  The stamp set has two different sizes of lillies.  Make sure you use the correct size stem.  They coordinate with the lily and aren't interchangeable.

While Sale-a-bration is going on, the new Occassions Catalog has also started.  There are some great items in there as well!  If you like butterflies, you are going to be in heaven!

Tasty Thursday - Instant Cocoa Mix

So far in Wisconsin, it's been a pretty mild winter.  The little snow that we currently have will be melting soon.  It's supposed to be in the 40s in the next day or two.  Definately not what we usually expect here.

Typically, it's hot chocolate season here.  But with the weather, not so much.  My college friend gave me this recipe so I've had it just a few years.  It's a fabulous recipe.  We all love it.

Instant Cocoa Mix

2 1/2 cup Instant Nonfat Dry Mix

1 1/2 cup Creamora (dry coffee creamer)

1/2 cup cocoa

2 cups sugar

Sift together 3 times to mix well.

Hot Cocoa:  use 1/4 cup mix with 3/4 cup hot water

Cold chocolate drink: 1/4 cup mix with 3/4 cup milk.  Mix in blender.

Even after all these years, I still haven't tried the cold chocolate drink.  I can image it would taste great since the hot is so good.  It's rich and creamy.

One way we love our hot chocolate is to add a splash of Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer.  Chocolate and pepper mint...you just can't go wrong.

Don't forget that the new Occassions catalog started, as well as Sale-a-Bration!  There is some yummy things in there.  If you need a catalog, let me know so I can get one to you.

Until next time...Stampin' Always,

Circles of Deer

Are we ready for tomorrow?  New Occassions and SAB catalogs start!

Tonight I'm gong to share one last Dashing Deer card.

I had seen a picture of a similar card and set out to design one myself.  The picture didn't show any directions, so it was a little bit of a challenge.

The circles are actually tucked under the banner to hold them down.   They are adhered together and scored at 1/3 inch.  The deer is then stamped, centered between the circle ends and the score lines.  The circles are then folded and adhered under the inside cardstock that has the greeting stamped on.

There is a lot of centering involved.  The Whisper White inside piece must be centered, at the same time the deer being place correctly on the front.  Key is to take your time and don't rush it.  Here is a picture of the inside.  It's not the greatest picture since I didn't take it in my stamp room, but you can get the idea.

I really like how it turned out. It took time and patience to make this on.  This is a card definately not designed for beginner stampers.  There are time we need to be challenged.  We get bored with doing the same type of cards.  This one challenged me and I loved it.   Not that I would like to make too many of these, it was great doing something new.

Last Chance - Ends Tomorrow

Image may contain: text

Are you ready for some Sale-a-Bration?  I'm ready to move on to new items.

But first, here's one last chance to purchase items from the current Occassions Catalog.  Many of the items are retiring so when they are gone, no more.  We never know what will be carried over to the next Annual Catalog until that comes out in June. So grab it while you can.

There are three stamp sets that I'm really hoping will carry over.  They are:  Dashing Deer, Merry Christmas to All, and Country Home.  If you follow my blog, I think it's proven how much I like Dashing Deer and Merry Christmas to All.   I used them just a few times.  For the Country Home, it has my antique milk that I absolutely love.

You can order from the current catalog thru January 2.

One catalog ends, and another starts.

Starting January 3, SALE-A-BRATION starts!!   So does the new Occasions Catalog.  I haven't had too much time to stamp with the new sets, but I'm ready to dig in!

Do you need either catalog?  Let me know and I can get one to you.

Don't forget to get your last order in from the Holiday catalog.  Last time is January 2.  Contact me if you have any questions.

Until next time...Stampin' Always,

Stamp Case turned Notepad Holder

Another weekend has come andgone so very quickly.  Today was spend getting Megan ready for her trip to England.  She leaves January 7 for a semester abroad.  It's coming way to fast.  We made a list of toiletries that I have to buy after work tomorrow.  The hardest part for her was cutting back on the cosmetics.  I'm trying to help her keep is light and it's killing her.  At least we didn't have any blow-ups over it.

I never got around to showing you this project I did for OnStage.  It's customary that Stampin' Up! demonstrators make pillow gifts for those sharing hotel rooms.  This is what I made for my roomie.

It's a Clear-Mount Stamp Case all glammed up.  Mary's all time favorite DSP was the Toil & Trouble so I decided to use what I had left.  Plus, she loves the color purple so I chose Gorgeous Grape to go with it.

Here is a picture of the front and back.  It's pretty similar except the front has an extra strip of Gorgeous Grape.  I added the little tag on the back for when she received it.

The two stamp sets I used were Rooted in Nature and Pick a Pennant.  The front stamp was obviously the easiest.  The spine wasn't hard, just very time-consuming.  She goes by "Mary's Craft Room" so I thought it appropriate to stamp that on the spine.  It just took a little patience to stamp each letter one at a time.  I added the flower because it needed a little something on the ends.

Here is the inside.  I used the Envelope Punch Board and made a little envelope to store her business cards.  The paper was 3 x 3 and scored at 1/2 on each side.  Cut off the smaller end for the opening.  I adhered it to the inside using Tear & Tape.

For the notepads, they are typically longer than the stamp case.  I purchaed them a while ago at Office Max.  I had brought along a stamp case and they cut the notepads down to size.  It was an small, additonal fee, but so worth the money.  They had it done within minutes and it was a perfect cut. The binding was ugly, so that had to be covered up with DSP.  I did not adhere this to the case.  This way, if she wanted to take it out for any reason, she could.  On the other hand, she could always adhere it herself.

This is a wonderful piece to keep in your purse or tote.  I had one in my purse for quite a while and I would put my coupons inside.  It is nice always knowing you have paper when needed.  I had one in my purse for several years and it has now worn out.  One of these days I need to make another.

Here is one we did in club over a year ago.

On the inside we made a thin envelope to store coupons or notes.  In the past, I have also added small tear-off calendars.  They make excellent gifts.

Not another Christmas Card!

I really need to get down to my stamp room and work on other cards that are not Christmas related.  As much as I love Chritmas, it's time to move on.  But first, I have to clean up my room.  Mine is worse than messy.  I started to clean up a little bit, but there's a long way to go.  Ever notice when you start a project, you have a whole table open and tons of space to use.  By the time you are done, you are down to a 6x6 area of useable space.  No matter what I do, that always happens and it's sooo frustrating.  I have to work on getting organized and staying organized.  Here's to 2019 Organizing!

Here is a card I quickly created.  It's with the Merry Christmas to All stamp set and All is Bright DSP.

The saying is in Shaded Spruce and matted with Crumb Cake.  I think it needed the neutral in the card.

Usually, I don't use the flourishes that come in the stamp sets, but this time I did.  The corners seemed a little plain, so I clear embossed the flourishes there.  I almost used pearls or rhinestones, but tried something a little different instead.
