Beautiful You Card

Happy Monday!

I seriously am beginning to think the sun doesn't exist any more.  We haven't seen it in Wisconsin in the longest time.  It has been gray, overcast and all out depressing.  It's amazing how it effects people's attitude.  I especially see it at work.  The customers are little more crabby than normal.  Please send out the sun!!

This was a card that I had originally done for swapping at OnStage.  After I got home, I found them in the living room while cleaning!  I couldn't believe it.  What was more amazing, was that I didn't even realize that I forgot them.  So I now have 10 of these to use up somehow.

I had dug out the Beautiful You stamp set because I haven't used it in the longest time.  Same goes for the Around the Corner stamp set.  It was nice to get away from the Fall/Halloween/Christmas cards for a change.

The color combo is relatively subdude.  Tranquil Tide being the dominant color with the others being the subtle neutrals.  The lace trim helps to soften the look even more.

Christmas Plaid & Candy Canes

Another week closer to Christmas. I got one cookie baked, but it's too early to frost, so into the freezer they go.  Today I spent quite a bit of time in my stamp room.  I was working on gifts for my club people and coffee friends.  I can't show them yet, but I will say, they were addicting to make.  Got you wondering right?  In about 2 weeks I can show you.

Anyway, here is a card my Stamp-a-Stack people did.

I absolutely love this plaid and also the gray wood look.  It's in the Festive Christmas DSP, but it doesn't scream Christmas at all.  If there was a pack of paper that contained just these two patterns, I'd LOVE it.

The stamp set is Many Blessings. Who doesn't like candy canes?  The wreath is stamped in Mossy Meadow and colored with Pear Pizzazz.  Those two colors look very well togther.  Stamping in a neutral just didn't sit well with me.  This looks more like an actual wreath.

Coloring was actually fun with this one.  It's not a lot to color, so you can finish it very quickly.  I used the Wink of Stella in a few places, like the container and stars.  Look at the color combo.  Doesn't exactly scream Christmas card.

Don't forget about the inside.  Look at mine.  Those ornaments are so cute, I just had to put them to use.

The wreath is cut out from the circle framelits.  I actually used the retired set.  You can use the largest circle from the current layering circle framelits.  The wreath just barely fits inside it.  I chose the retired one just to have a little room to play with.

Merry Little Elves

One week closer to Christmas!  Is anyone ready?  I'm definately not.  I'm hoping to start making Chritmas cookies this weekend.  Usually, I start off with making cut-out cookies.  They are a favorite of my family.  Because they are so tedious to make, I like to get them done first and freeze them.  Then, a week before Christmas, I take them out and the three of them frost and decorate.

This was my club Thank You cards for this month.

I love these guys.  What's so nice about this card is that the only thing stamped is the saying.  The elves are actually from the Santa's Workshop DSP.  They were designed to fit perfectly on a cardfront.  I'm good, but not that good.  I couldn't have stamped and colored them to look this perfect!

The Coastal Cabana is a different twist of color in this card.  I took it from the DSP.  You can see it on the presents.  Look at the color combo for the card.

The card front is just partally embossed with the Swirls and Curls embossing folder.  I left the bottom 2 inches of the card front plain.  On another card, I did emboss the full card front, but it was just a little much for the card.

The Merry & Bright stamp is retired.  Sorry.  I wanted just a small sentiment and this one fit the bill.

Christmas made Easy

Christmas card made easy.

That's what this card is all about.  Background paper, stamp sentiment, matte it and done!

The paper is from the All is Bright DSP pack.  It's so pretty, why waste it by covering it up?  That's why I decided to keep the card simple.  I let the paper speak for itself and be the star of the card.

I did add a little bit of bling.  The J in Joy is topped with a rhinestone. Super sweet.   Look closely above the sentiment.  I took half of a silver doilie.  It's unfortunately, retired but it added a little bit of a crown effect on the sentiment.  You could easily substitute the current Pearlized Doilies.   I just didn't have any of those on hand.

Now look at the inside.

I sometimes don't know what to do with some of the stamps that come with the set . This line of leaves and flowers was one.  I took my markers of Real Red and Garden Green, colored the stamp and this is what I came up with.  Both inside stamps come from the Dashing Deer stamp set.  I love how it turned out.

Golden Deer

I am really liking these deer!  Usually, I don't go for stamps like this, but I'm happy I did.

On Pinterest, I saw another card similar to this.  I took the basic idea and tweaked it to my liking.

The deer look so elegant embossed in the gold powder.  Mixing metals is totally acceptable lately, so I chose to match the gold deer with the silver swirly behind them.  Actually, I tried the swirly in gold, but didn't like it at all.  Too much gold.  The mix of gold and silver is better in person than in the picture.

This card looks simple, but there is actually a lot of details that went into it.  Embossing the background, the silver swirly. embossing the deer and don't forget the sentiment.  Whew!  I'm exhausted.

Polished Stone Pear Pizzazz

So, did everyone survive Thanksgiving and the Black Friday weekend?  My Thanksgiving day was nice but short since I had to leave for work.  I was glad to have both girls home for an extended weekend.  Friday, Megan and I did some shopping ourselves. We made some good dinners and sent the girls back to school with plenty of leftovers.  We haven't received any snow yet.  Just south of us is getting quite a bit of snow.  Chris may have to be careful going to work.  Blizzard like conditions there.  Yikes.  I'm so not ready for that kind of storm yet.

Here is another Polished Stone Technique card I did a while ago.  The background is only Pear Pizzazz.  I LOVE how the background turned out.  It's hard to believe that it is only one color.

To get the background, rub or dab the cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and ink, on the Glossy White paper.  Make sure it is Glossy White.  The glossy part makes the color able to move around a little bit until it dries.  And it does dry very quickly.

I used the trees from Rooted in Nature.  This would also be beautiful using the trees from Lovely as a Tree.  When we did this card in club, I brought Lovely as a Tree with me and someone did choose to use that set.  It was beautiful.  I should have taken a picture of it, but forgot.

Overall, this is a pretty simple card to make.  The background would be easy if you have to make several of these.  It's actually addicting to play with the different colors.  I still have another background that I never did make into a complete card.  One of these days!

Rose Garden

Yesterday we celebrated my MIL's birthday.  What she wanted was in Spring for my husband and his brother to help her start a rose garden at their new house.  They would have to dig out the garden area and go with her to purchase the rose bushes.  It will be a labor of love when it will be completed.

So, my husband volunteered me to make a "gift certificate" for this rose garden.  Where to start?  I couldn't do any generic like a postcard of such.  Here is what I came up with.

I had to use my Cricut machine for the roses, but the paper is all Stampin' Up!.  The base is Sahara Sand and the roses are combination of Real Red, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo.

The DSP on the base has been retired, but worked perfectly! I was so excited to see that I actually has some leftover.

My MIL loved her rose garden gift certificate.  She can't wait for the real one rose garden in the Spring.
