More Traditional Holly Card

What a gorgeous weekend!  For the past several days, it's been sunny and in the 70s.  My perfect weather.  My husband got so much done outside it was scary.  Now I don't have to hear him complain about doing things in the cold weather.  It's 9:30 pm and I still have the front door open.  The end is coming soon.

Also this weekend was Stampin' Up!'s virtual OnStage convention.  I viewed it from the comforts of my living room.  I saw new products that are being released in the January Mini catalog and also the SAB.  Actually, I was even able to see an online catalog!  Wow!  Some of the new products are amazing.  I can't wait to get my hands on some things.

We had the exciting option of being able to purchase a new Suite of products that we used during OnStage. Yay!  It was something that I couldn't resist ordering.   I haven't photographed my cards so I'll show them tomorrow.

In the meantime, here is a card I made earlier this week.

This card definately reminded me of a traditional holly Christmas card.  The colors, Real Red and Old Olive are as traditional as you can get!  But, I still love them, especially together.

The two DSP pieces are from the Poinsettia Place DSP.  Do you see the second piece?  It's the paper that the Very Vanilla is matted to.  Look closely and you can see there is a subtle pattern on it.  Perfect for what I needed.  I originally didn't have the Real Red piece under it.  But, the left side was pretty much Old Olive on Old Olive.  It got lost.  The Real Red fixed that problem.  I wanted just a little shown, so it's just 1/8 inch larger then the DSP.

Don't forget about the inside.  It's sometimes easy to forget about it.  This time I didn't.

It's a simple inside, but super cute.  Wouldn't you love a card that opened to this?

Christmas Circles

Who's ready for all this election stuff to be done?  I AM!!  Personally, I hate politics of every kind.  I'm tired of the calls, text and mailers and can't wait for it to end.  I'm not one to preach so I won't.  Just stop the insanity!!

This card is CASED from Pinterest.  I used the Snow Wonder bundle.  How fun is this bundle?

The DSP used is the 'Tis the Season 6 x 6 pack.  It has some wonderful patterns included.  The  1/2 strip was actually a scrap that I had kept.  It pays to keep those until scraps until the of the season.  I added the ribbon to hide the seam between the two DSP pieces.

The mistletoe and sled were way to white for my liking.  Get out the blender pens!  I used dark Soft Sea Foam on the mistletoe and dark Real Red on the sled.  Once the Real Red is dry, color the sled with Wink of Stella.

The sled is adhered directly to the card.  But the mistletoe and sentiment are adhered with dimensionals.

If you have the shimmery Crystal Effects, that would look great on the berries.  I just kept it "simple."

Joyful Holly Blues

So, I got on my computer last night to share this card with you.  But, I notice there was a warning that some of my passwords had funky message attached to them.  So, three hours later, after changing passwords, I think things are ok.  What a pain in the butt.

I love this stamp set.  All the other cards I've done with this set are in greens.  In my mind, why not blue?  hmmm.

Know what...I'm liking it!

The checked paper is made using the Buffalo Check stamp set.  Make sure you the Stamparatus along with this set.  It will take several attempts to get the stamp to look good.  Also, use a larger piece of Whisper White than what you actually need.  This so you have a place for the magnets.   I added an inch on top and bottom, but the sides were the width I needed. Trim off the excess when you are done stamping.   Worked out perfect.

The card needed a little more something, but couldn't figure out what.  Then...Wink of Stella.  I colored all the holly leaves with it.  Perfect.   Take a closer look at the leaves.

You can also see that the second stamp was just a little bit off.  In a way, I kind of like it better than a perfect stamp.  Makes the card look more homemade.

Zany Zebra Birthday Card

Today, I didn't take a step outside!  I love those days.  Some cleaning got done and I went in my stamp room.  Last week, I ordered the new Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  I finally got to play with it!!!  The plates are all numbered so it was super easy to figure out what I needed to emboss or cut dies with.  I can't wait to show my club peeps next month!

These Zany Zebra's are just adorable.  How can you not like them?  Unfortunately I don't own this set, but I was able to play with one and create this simple card. It's perfect for a child's birthday.

When someone first put together purple and green colors, I thought...REALLY?  But, they do look fabulous together don't they?  Crazier things have happened.

The top Purple Posey piece I embossed with the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder.  Using my new Cut & Emboss machine!  Since there was no patterned paper, it needed texture.  This embossing folder goes with just about  anything.

It's a super simple design, but that's fine too.  All cards shouldn't be over the top.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Double Embossing

I'm just done.  With funerals that is.  It was my second in one week so I'm allowed to say that.  It was nice to reconnect with cousins I haven't seen in quite a few years, but it's not the way to reconnect.  Hopefully, we will in touch more often than at funerals.

There is something new that I've never  done before.  Embossed with two different embossing powders.  For this card, I used clear and white.  I just randomly stamped snowflakes, then chose a powder.

First, stamp the tree.  Definately use the Stamparatus.  I just laid the Pool Party square on the card base.  DO NOT ADHERE!  Once the tree is stamped, then adhere the squares to the card front.  Make sure you line the tree trunks up!  You can't have a wonky tree.

For the ground, I used the White Craft ink.  The craft ink usually takes longer to dry, so keep that in mind.  If you are impatient, think about using the heat tool.

You can turn this card into just about any kind you need.  I used the Merry Christmas because of the snowflakes, but it would be fabulous winter birthday card.  Or even a sympathy card.

Remember the DSP Sale!

I hope you haven't forgotten about the DSP sale going on.  It only goes until October 31, that's this Friday.  It also happens to be Halloween.  Do you have any plans for Halloween?  For us, it's just like any other Friday.

Not all DSP paper is on sale.  Here's what's included.

The price that you are seeing does not reflect the 15% discount.  So, the paper is cheaper than this!  Cool beans.

Isn't there some awesome packs for sale?  And they included Christmas paper!  Talk about perfect time for all those Christmas cards and crafts that we still have to make.

Time is running out so don't forget to place an order if you need any paper.  Sale ends online Friday at 11:59MT.  I'm super tempted to get another pack of In Good Taste.  It can literally be used for just about any kind of card.

Let me know if you need any help placing your order.

A Waterfront Birthday Card

One more day of work and then I get a day off!  It's been a long stretch.  Yesterday, I was in a mood to clean and throw away.  I went through the bathroom cabinet and drawers.  It felt good to get rid of stuff we don't use any more and to re-organize.  We have a whole drawer of travel size shampoos, etc.  I'm using them up.  No need to keep these things because we won't be travelling for a while.

I don't remember the last time I used the Waterfront stamp set.  It was time to bring it out again.

The colors are more on the masculine side.  But they are so beautiful!

The top piece of Seaside Spray is embossed using the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  By sponging some ink onto the texture.  It makes the texture more visible, in a subtle way.

The ribbon isn't exactly masculine, but, then again,  it's not too feminine.   I mean, it's not lace.  That wouldn't be a good thing to have on a masculine card!

How would you turn this card more feminine?  I already chose the lace, so come up with another way!

Fun Snowman

I had my stamp club last night.  It was postponed a week, but so worth the wait in getting together again.  Ginger made the best ever apple pie.  I designed this card over 2 months ago.  Everytime we met, we had just run out of time for this card.  Who would have thought right?  This time I was smart.  It was the first card of the night.  I wasn't worried because there was plenty of time to complete this Christmas card.  But, I wanted it gone from my desk area.

Isn't this snowman cute?  I colored him with the colors of the card, Soft Sea Foam and Pool Party.  I added Poppy Parade for the berries and Calypso Coral for the nose.

The trees are stamped randomly in the middle of the Whisper White.  Don't stamp them all in a row.  That would be too staged.  I like straight lines, but not always!

With no snow to play with, I chose to stamp some snowflakes in the sky and heat set some clear embossing powder.  One club person tried the white embossing powder, but those didn't show up as much.  It was good to know.

Of course, the snowman is cut out with the dies and adhered with dimensionals.  He needed to be show cased just a bit.
