Beautiful World Double Dutch Card

I am so done with this heat!  Even Chris has mentioned it's been bad.  And he likes the hot and humid weather!  Crazy man. Looks like maybe Friday we will get a break in the weather.  One more day.  Hopefully.

This is considered a Double Dutch card.   The outside looks like a normal card.  Check out the inside and you can see where the double dutch comes into play.

Isn't this a fabulous fun fold card?  I love the two different DSP patterns on the front.  My favorite part is all the copper accents.

The Cinnamon Cider and Misty Moonlight pieces are embossed with the Old World Paper embossing folder.  Adhere them together and then emboss them together.

The globe base is actually the smaller of the two bases in the World Map Dies.  It's cut in half with the sentiment inbetween.  Genius right?  I didn't like how the other one looked, so I made the smaller one work.  And no one is the wiser.

This is a fun card, full of details.  If you want a challenge, try this one!  The results are spectacular!

Simple Everyday Card

Yesterday I said it was going to be cleaning the house day.  I got some done.  First...I did go get a cup of coffee.  Tasted awesome!  I finished the laundry, cleaned the kitchen, made cupcakes (huge priority of my family!), and just getting little things done.  Megan had to stain two boards for her tv stand, so I kept her on track to finish.  It was super hot and she didn't want to do it, but now it's done and she's happy for that.  Tomorrow she can finish the little details and it's completely done.  I'll show pictures  later this week.

I was challenged to use some products to make any kind of card I chose.  The base had to be Cinnamon Cider, embellishments and had to use the DSP samples we received.  My sample included a piece from the Flowers for Every Season DSP.

Since I don't have this DSP, I was happy to get a small sample to use.  Plus, I love daffodils.  How can you not?

It's paired with Tasteful Touches stamp set and dies.  The sentiment just fits on the die.  I stamped some flowers on the Just Jade that resembled the flowers in the DSP.

This is a simple card, great for a beginner stamper.  There's some detail, but not overwhelming.

Deer from Wishes & Wonder

Did you have a good weekend?  I ended up working most of it.  Today, someone called in so I ended up going in for about 6 hours.  It was definately hard to say yes, but things come up and I couldn't say no.  So, that means, I get to clean tomorrow since I didn't get to any of it today.  But first...I'll be going to get a cup of coffee.

It was time to get out the Wishes & Wonder stamp set.  We made this card in club last week.  They are always so excited to use any new product I happen to purchase.

The patterned paper is the 'Tis the Season DSP. It's a 6x6 pack with tons of different patterns.  There are three just here on this card.  But they all work together so don't be afraid to mix and match patterned paper.

I love the deer.  There is no stamping involved in this one, just cut from the die.  The deer's breast area is all tiny cuts that are right from the die.  Super easy and lovely effect.

The tag also is from the North Pole Wonder dies.  I was glad they included one since there aren't many tag dies right now.  I can't wait to use it for Christmas present tags!  Won't that be fun to play with.

Don't forget to add some bling.  The Crumb Cake was just looking too naked and needed some help.

That's it for now.  Have a fabulous week!

Thank you gift

What a dinner tonight.  I found a good deal on shrimp.  So, I made a lime-cilantro grilled shrimp recipe.  Yum.  What we had planned, and still made, were grilled fish tacos.  Three of us love those.  Alyssa doesn't like seafood, but likes the marinade.  So, she gets grilled chicken tacos and it makes her happy.

I owed a fellow stamper a thank you gift.  Of course, the gift had to be something from Stampin' Up!.  Dimensionals.  You can never have too many of those.

Can you just give a plain pack of dimensionals?  No way.

I used the Tasteful Touches stamp set and dies.  The feather and flower are colored with the Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends.  And yes, they were fussy cut out.

It's designed so that you can take the dsp paper that is wrapped can be cut and adhered to a card front.  A card couldn't be any easier than that.

That's all I have for tonight.  Have a great weekend.

Tasty Thursday - Mashed Potato Bowls

We were never a family to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken when it was around here.  But one menu item really stood out to us, especially the commercials.

Their mashed potato bowls.

Comfort food it's finest.

Their recipe calls for popcorn chicken.  We used chicken tenders instead.  Kwik Trip has fabulous ones.  Sometimes we plan this meal when Alyssa is leaving work later in the afternoon.  The other night we grabbed them from work.

TIP:  You always want to make sure the store had enough tenders.  When I went grocery shopping, I talked to them and they had them ready for my specific time.  Talk to your local store. I'm sure they will do it also.  Kwik Trip will also have them on hold for you if you call ahead.

It's not a great photo since I took it super fast.  Definately not as good as KFC.  Better than nothing.

There isn't a very specific recipe but here it goes.

Mashed Potato Bowl

Mashed potoatoes

corn

gravy

chicken tenders or popcorn tenders.

Shredded cheddar cheese

Make the mashed potatoes any way you prefer.  Leftovers are also good.  Gravy can be any kind you prefer.

Layer the ingredients into a bowl, starting with the mashed potatoes.  The layers all depends upon your preference.  I always top it off with the shredded cheese.

Sorry, it's not much of a recipe, but the results are fabulous.  How often does the entire family like a dinner recipe?

Not often enough.

Pampered Pets Stamp Set

Today I want to share some sample card from the stamp, Pampered Pets.

 PAMPERED PETS CLING STAMP SET

I think this stamp set is completely adorable.  My only regret is that my dog doesn't look like either one!  Now, if the image was more like a sheltie, then it would be mine in a heartbeat.

What is not to like about this card?  The cat actually resembles mine.  He's an orange tabby, but more of a greenish/yellowish eyes.

My favorite part of the card are the paw prints.  Those would be super fun to play with.  To make a card even easier, the dog and cat are images right from the Playful Pets DSP.  They are just cut out with the dies.  I love the fact the SU! has made some things super easy for us.

I love how the cat on top looks like he's looking out from a window.  Fabulous idea!  Just like a true cat.  Unlike the pets in the first card, these are stamped and colored by hand.

These are only the main products SU! used with these cards.  Click on the links and it will take you directly to the SU! website.

Autumn Tree with Life is Beautiful

Today we moved Megan's stuff back up to La Crosse.  The van was full.  Her bedroom is pretty well set up, with a few things that she still have to bring up.  Hopefully the rest she can bring up herself.  Going up is never the problem.  Coming home is.  It seems like we always get into some kind of traffic.  Today was no different.  Supposedly there was an accident, but we never saw any evidence of one.  It slowed us down an extra half hour.  Ugghhh.

I was hesitant to purchase the Life is Beautiful stamp set.  When Sheltering Tree was out, I loved it.  So, why not this one too?

When I'm making a tree with autumn leaves, I immediately think baby wipe technique.  Take a alcohol free baby wipe and wet it with drops from the re-inkers.  Use this as your stamp pad.  You can stamp several times using one wipe.  If you are doing quite a few, you will have to repeat this step several times.

Don't forget to stamp some leaves on the inside!

TIP:  When stamping the tree, use the Stamparatus!  It's such a large stamp, you never know if the first stamp will be good.  In fact, mine wasn't.  So, I was very glad to have used it.

The bottom seemed too plain, even with the leaves.  So, I sponged some Old Olive there.  It kind of brought the card together.

Joyful Holly Christmas Card

When I first saw the Joyful Holly stamp set in the mini Catalog, it really peaked my interest.  After a slight hesitation, I went for it.

The card started with a scrap of Whisper White.   It accidentally fit the holly image perfect.  A Happy Accident!

Shaded Spruce is the outline of the holly leaves.  Just Jade is the inside.  Definately use your Stamparatus!  It'll save you a whole lot of frustration.  My top holly leaves are slightly off.  But I actually like it better than being perfectly stamped.

The bow is from the Real Red Braided Trim.  Love it!  I'm going to enjoy using this.  It was super easy to to tie a bow with too.

I used the Shimmery Crystal Effects on the berries.  It was the very last thing I did on the card because it needs about 1/2 hour to dry.  But the outcome is worth it.
