Forever Fern goes Blue

Two days in a row we had sun!  Can we go for three?  I'm hoping.  It felt good going for a walk again.  I haven't walked in a while so it was about time to get back in the game.  Tomorrow I'm going to walk and do some errands.

Don't stamp Forever Fern in just greens!  Look how they look stamped in all shades blue.  Love it. I usually don't use those little filler stamps, like those dots, but I did this time.  I think I should use them more often.

The ribbon is the Seaside Spray ribbon.  I just wrapped it around the card, leaving the ends so you can see them.  No tying or bows necessary. Simple, yet effective.

I didn't like how the shape on the sentiment was getting lost on the Whisper White.  Instead, I took the Misty Moonlight marker and edged the die shape with it.

Next, I thinking about trying this stamp set with some fall colors.  Now doesn't that sound interesting?

Banner and Holly Christmas Card

Finally...a day without rain and there is sunshine!!  It felt so good to see the sun again.  Chris did end up. mowing today.  He tried his best to talk himself out of it.  In the end, the lawn got mowed and it's done with.

I know, you are thinking another Joyful Holly card.  It's my new favorite Christmas stamp set so I can't help myself!  I'm hoping you will soon love it as much as I do.

This time, I didn't use the entire holly image.  There wasn't an oval that was large enough for the holly AND have a a larger one for a mat.  You really can't tell the some of the holly was cut off.

Look at the pattern of the Real Red paper.  It has images of holly leaves on it!  It's like the paper was made for the stamp set!!  That is one detail SU! is fabulous about.  The matching and coordinating are carefully planned, so we get the most for our money.

You can't tell, but the Whisper White banner is embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.  It was way too white and plain for my liking.  This embossing folder gave it the subtle texture I was looking for.

Don't forget the detail of the holly berries.  I dug out the Shimmery Crystal Effects again.  It's all those little details that make a card fabulous.

Need a Super Easy Card?

Here went another rainy day.  It barely stopped raining all day.  I would rather have it just pour for a little and be over with.   Instead we/ve had this all day light rain.  The grass will definately need mowing.  If it stops raining enough for that to happen.  Let's hope.

Today's card is a super easy design.

I used Just Jade and Bumblebee for the bases and the floral paper is from the Flowers For Every Season DSP pack.  The flowers are so lovely and cheerful on such a rainy day.

The sentiment is rather large and exactly what I wanted.  A small one would have gotten lost on the flowers.  This one is frm the Rooted in Nature stamp set.  It's also the first time I used Magenta Madness.  Not bad of a color.  I need to use it more!

To bring this card to the next level would be easy.  Add a banner, ribbon, embellishment of some sort and you would have even more of a stunning card.  I would consider this to be for a beginner stamper.  And there is absolutely nothing wrong with making a card like this.

Tasty Thursday - Pierogi Beef Skillet

I don't think it stopped raining hardly all day.  It wasn't hard rain,  just a nice soaking rain.  I'm sure my husband can hear the grass growing.  (It's not a favorite job to do.)  It'll have to be mowed this weekend.

My cousins in Pittsburgh introduced us to Pierogi's several years ago.  It's kind of a Polish dumpling.  The most traditional way to make them are to saute in butter and onions.  I'm down with that.

I found recipe (on Pinterest of course) that includes Pierogis.  It reminded us of a shephard's pie substituting the pierogis for the mashed potatoes.    Another reason I like it was because it was fast and easy to make.

Pierogi Beef Skillet

Pierogi Beef Skillet

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth
  • 1 package (16 ounces) frozen cheese and potato pierogi, thawed
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (about 10 ounces), thawed and drained
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, cook and crumble beef with onion over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes; drain, reserving 3 tablespoons drippings. Stir in flour and seasonings until blended. Gradually stir in broth; bring to a boil. Cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in pierogi and vegetables. Cook, uncovered, until heated through, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle with cheese.

Doesn't this just sound super easy?  It is.  There wasn't so much seasoning so I added my own.  I'm a Penzey's Spices person, so I just added some of their special blends.

The recipe is from Taste of Home.  So, you know it will be pretty good.  Pierogi Beef Skillet

Merry & Bright

Happy Labor Day.

I was super lazy today.   Completely undermotivated.  I went into my stamp room and still couldn't get excited about anything.  It's gotta change by tomorrow since I have to finish prepping for club.

Joyful Holly is my new favorite stamp set for the 2020 Holiday Season.  It's fun playing with two different greens for the leaves.  It's always a challenge getting the inside leaf lined up with the outside. I can't wait to try the Stampin' Blends on them soon.

The holly is outlined in Just Jade and inside is Mint Macaron.  I didn't use the Stamparatus on this card, and I did pretty good in lining things up.  I usually mess up on the very last stamp.

The ribbon is the Real Red Braided Trim.  It's super easy to tie a bow with.  I am very happy with that.

Do you have the new Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine?  If you do, I'm jealous!  I've heard good things about it.  But for now, I used my old machine and cutout the sentiment with the Tasteful Label Dies.  I'm hoping the new one is in my near future.

Pressing On

Megan is finally back at school.  She was ready to go back.  Her car was packed full.  There wasn't much room for too many more things.  We were surprised it all fit.  And that was with making two trips up already!  We are thankful she only has 3 classes, two are virtual and one is hybrid.  So, she barely has to go on campus.  The girls are betting to see when it all goes virtual.  One has 2 weeks, the other has 3.  Megan is off-campus for the first time.  Yay!  I think it's a little less risky.  Besides, she is super careful where and what she does lately.

Gotta love any stamp set that includes coffee.  Therefore, gotta love Press On.

I went outside my box on the colors for this one.  It's not that I don't like Bermuda Bay or Mango Melody, I just don't use them often.  Maybe because they are strong colors and can be overwhelming to use.  Anyway, I do like them and decided to use them.

The coffee cup and lid are colored with using Stampin' Blends.  Don't forget to use Memento when stamping the image and then using the Blends.  The regular Basic Black doesn't work well with the Blends.

The heart is stamped in Poppy Parade.  It's also colored with the Wink of Stella.

Look at how perfectly the oval is with the stamped images, especially with the top rays.  I wish I could say it was planned, but unfortunately it wasn't.  Just a happy coincidence you could say.

Have a fabulous weekend!

The New Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine is here!!

This is some fabulous news to share today.  The NEW Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine is now available for everyone to order!!

Doesn't it look just beautiful!  It's a sleek clean design, and very sturdy.  One awesome part is that the work surfaces on both sides foldup for easy storage.  It also makes it super portable too!  The only assembly necessary is to attach the handle.

Don't worry about all your previously purchased dies and embossing folders.  They are all compatable with this new machine.

Everything you need to get started is included in the cost.  The plates are numbered and color-coded so you know exactly how to layer the sandwich for what you are doing.

Not included is the magnetic platform.  Now, that is worth the extra money.  Remember how the dies would jump around on the platform?  Well, no more.  The entire platform is magnetic!  That was a super awesome improvement SU! made.

Now, I don't have the machine...yet.  But, from what I've heard from my fellow demonstrators, is that they all LOVE the new machine.  It's worth the money.

There is going to be a Mini Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine coming out before the end of the year.  A specific date has not been released yet.  The Mini will be able to use dies and folders that are under 3 1/2 inches.  I love how small and cute it is.  In both the Annual Catalog and current Holiday Catalog, the dies and embossing folders are clearly marked so you know which product is specific for the Mini Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine.

These are links that will go directly to my store if you want to check things out in more detail.  I have a feeling it will be in my house soon.

Mixing Snow Wonder with Poinsettia Place DSP

Did anyone else's weekend go way too fast?  I worked all day yesterday and today we had Chris' parents up for dinner.  They wanted to see Megan one more time before she left for university.  So, most of my day went to normal cleaning because they were coming.  I would have put some of it off a few days, but I couldn't.  So, at least my house is relatively clean.

I took a chance by ordering the Poinsetta Place DSP and not ordering the coordinating stamp set and dies.  They look beautiful, but too putzy for my taste.  But, I liked the paper.  Most people wouldn't order the way I did, but that's fine with me.  It's good to take chances.

This is my Thank You card for my club members.  Simple yet elegant.  They really liked their card.

The card base if Soft Suede.  Not typical for a Christmas card and that's why I liked it.  It's paired with Garden Green.  Strong colors, but they are softened by the lightness of the DSP.  The flowers are so pretty.  I almost colored the petals with the Wink of Stella.  Maybe next card.

The sentiment is from the Snow Wonder stamp set.  The size and wording is just perfect.  Almost meant to be!

With only the sentiment being stamped, it was a super simple card to put together.  The ribbon, unfortunately, is retired, but the card needed something.  Substitute another ribbon that you have in your stash.

It'll be interesting to see what else I can do with this DSP, without using the Poinsettia stamp set.
