Four simple 6x6 Cards

What a busy weekend!  I helped my friend with a rummage sale.  We did pretty good.  I was so very happy to sell Megan's bed from school and a diy dresser that I never did anything with.  Fortunately, the weather was fabulous this weekend!  Usually, for City-Wide Rummage Sale, it's either rainy or super hot.  This time it was just right.

This is one of the pattern paper in the Lights Aglow 6x6 DSP pack.  My first thought was that it would make great little 3x3 cards.  Perfect for sticking in a Christmas gift bag.

I just cut them down so they would be 2 7/8 x 2 7/8.  Adhered them to the front of a pice of Basic White 3 x 6, scored at 3 inches.  Since there was 4 shapes, it was time to make 4 different cards!

And I said 4 different cards, I meant 4 different ones.  At a glance, here they are.

I thought these turned out super cute.  Every card has it's own stamped sentiment and embellishment.  The sentiments are from the new Brightest Glow stamp set.

Also, two cards have the sentiment popped up with dimensionals.  The other two cards are the opposite by having the Cherry Cobbler outside popped up with dimensionals and the sentiment is adhered to the card base.

I had to dig through my retired stash of embellishments to come up with some gold ribbon and pearls.  It was actually fun trying to make 4 different designs.  And these sentiments are the perfect size for these cards.

Now, about the only thing that is the same on every card is the inside.  It's simple and perfect.  I couldn't use a large sentiment because there wouldn't be enough room to sign it.

Even the envelopes are different.  The retired stamp pad I kept was perfect to use.  Otherwise, embossing with the gold powder would work too.  Sorry the picture isn't very good, but it's hard to photograph just gold on white.

In the pack of DSP, this pattern is also done in Soft Succulent.  I'm very tempted to do another set with that paper.  They would make a great little present fo someone. Maybe a St. Nick present?  Secret Santa?

I didn't do a recipe like I normally create for these cards, just listed the basic supplies used.

Until next time...Stampin' Always,

One Day Sale

That's right. Tomorrow only is ONE DAY SALE!

Stamp sets from the Annual Catalog are 15% off!  (excluding Hostess Sets).

When was the last time you looked at the Annual Catalog?  It's been a while for me. I've been lookin at the new Mini Catalog so much, I kind of forgot about the Annual Catty.

The list is long, so you can click here to view the entire list.

Don't forget the September Weekly Deals will also change tomorrow.  And I wish I had a heads up as to what will be on sale.  But, just like you, I have absolutely no idea.  The products have been so random, it's hard to guess what will be next.

The sale ends midnight mountain time.  I googled it, and believe that it is 1 a.m. central time.  If in doubt, make sure the order gets in before you go to bed.

I'll be placing my club order tomorrow, so I can always do it for you.  Just contact me.

Until next time...Stampin' Always,

Gold and Evening Evergreen Christmas Card

Saturday we finally arrived back home from our Nashville/Louisville trip.  I was ready to either go to another city or come home.  Unfortunately, we had to come home.  The girls both came home yesterday.  As Megan put it, they were summoned.  And why?  We brought backs ome of her favorite candies.  Savannah Pecan Pralines.  There was a store in Nashville, so get bought some our last day.  Since they wouldn't be as good waiting another week, they had to come home to get them.  Megan was pretty excited once she had them in hand and Alyssa was laughing because she knew about the pralines.  They were worth the trip home.

There is a whole lot of gold in this card! It's all embossed with the gold embossing powder - the tree, sentiment and snowflakes.  I loved how all the embossing looks.  Very elegant.

Don't forget about adding some gold pearls too!

Here is a super great paper saver tip.  I had stamped/embossed/cut out all the shapes from the Evening Evergreen piece the DSP is matted on top of.  I made sure all the shapes were inside so no cut outs would be seen from the front.  With the DPS on top, you cannot tell the Evening Evergreen has holes in it.

I love these little trees and had to make them work.  And they work perfectly inside the card.  They are stamped using Soft Succulent and the sentiment in Evening Evergreen.  No gold on the inside.

Easy card using Wonderful World DSP

We are now in Louisville, KY. Last night we went to the 4th Avenue area and was disappointed in what was open, or rather, what was not open.  Some restaurants were closed for good and some didn't open until Thursday.  We had, what I called our most Ok-ish dinner, there last night.  On our way back to the VRBO, we found NULO area.  It's the up and coming area - New Louisville.  There were some fantastic looking restaurants we are dying to try.  Chris figures he doesn't have to go back downtown to eat.  Instead, we will walk a block and get more unique foods.  One restaurant on his list is the Cuban restaurant and Rum Bar.  What doesn't sound good with that?  Nothing.

A lot people wonder what do to with DSP that have large patterns in them.  Well, here's one idea.

This is from the Wonderful World bundle.  Sad to say it has retired from our SAB sales.  One side had large floral pictures on and they were all so gorgeous.  Instead of cutting them up, I cut out the flowers and used it as the main focal point in my card.

Honestly, I love how this turned out.

The sentiment is from the Nature's Print stamp set.  The banner and also the circle is from the Stylish Shapes die set.  If you don't have this set, I HIGHLY recommend it.  It has stitched circles, squares and also banners. The perfect combination of shapes.

Here are two other cards I used with this DSP.  All the same design, just the flowers have changed.

Vintage Christmas Card

My husband and I are taking a little vacation this week.  He's been stressed with work, so we decided to take a week and visit Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY.  So far, Nashville has been a lot of fun. We're enjoying visiting the bars and listening to music.  I just wish there was a few less people.  But, the food, and drinks, has been really good so far.

When I saw this stamp set in the new Mini Catalog, I just had to get it.  Love the fact it coordinates with the punch that is in the Annual Catalog.

I love all the hints of gold in this card.  The acorns and sentiment are heat embossed with the gold embossing powder and don't forget about the gold the Basic White is matted on.

The stamp was a bit of a challenge.  It's three stamping steps - flower, acorn, greens.  Since I stamped the flowers first, my advice is to make sure there is enough paper above the flowers to fit the remaining stamps.  I had to redo mine at least once before I got the fit right.

Fot the bottle, I stamped and punched it out.  Wrap some linen thread around the bottle neck.  Then I folded the top of the neck over so the thread wouldn't fall off.  I also trimmed off the lip of the bottle so you wouldn't see that from the back.  This step you don't always have to do, but I do like the look of it.  I wish I had some gold thread to wrap around the neck!

The reason I chose to accent in gold is because the DSP has it in. So, I was just accenting it's highlights.  This Lights Aglow DSP pack is going to be so fun to use this holiday season.  I highly recommend it be put on your Wish List.

This is all I have for now.  We are going on a plantation tour with a wine tasting.  Have a fabulous week.

Watercoloring with Wonderful World Bundle

I will have to say it was a pretty uneventful weekend for us.  The girls had a fabulous weekend.  They spent the weekend in Chicago and went to the Imagine Dragons concert.  I'm so happy they enjoy spending time together.

I really do love this Wonderful World bundle.  There are only a few days left to get it FREE, with a $100 purchase.  Then it will be gone for good.  I really do hate that.

The front Basic White piece was done with water painters and re-inkers.  Place some drops on a stamp block.  With the water painter, wet the Basic White card stock.  Immediately add a little water to the ink, rub it around and then color the paper.  Add a little bit more water if you need.

Before you stamp the flower on the watercoloring, make sure it is DRY.  If not, it'll just bleed and make a mess of everything.

The stamp set I used is also going away.  It's the Amazing Phrasing stamp set, also FREE with a $100 purchase.  There are a lot of phrases that are used today.  Look at the inside phrase I chose.

For the flowers, I used my ink pads.  They were simple enough to ink the stamp by using just the edge of the ink pad.  If that won't work for you, use your Stampin' Write markers.  Sometimes, the. markers are easier than the ink pads.  But use which ever product you have.

Let's Celebrate Fun Fold Card

Last night Chris and I went to a Beloit Snapper Softball game.  They are a local minor league team.  The stadium is brand spanking new and wow!  It was really nice.  We ended up sitting at a table with an elderly couple from Rockford, Ill.  They were the nicest couple!  I think we chatted more than we actually watched the game.  Their names were Harry and Lynette.  If it weren't for them, Chris would have wanted to leave a lot earlier than we did.  It was such a pleasant way to spend the evening.

I know, just another Splendid Thoughts card.  Promise, I'll post something else next week.  Lol!

But, this is a fun fold card.  Look at how it opens.

It's a close up picture, so I hope you can see how it opens.  The Pool Party is a folded card that opens on the right side, while the Sahara Sand card base is very small and opens on the left side.  Relatively easy, but make a big impact.

When playing around with all the stems on the front, make sure the adhesive doesn't go over the edge of the Pool Party.  Just play around with the stems you choose.  Also, don't forget to use the adhesive sheets before you cut them out with your Cut & Emboss machine.  They will make your life so much easier.

Lastly, don't forget the bling!  I used the Brushed Brass Butterflies. The final touch to this card.
