Easy Wonderful World Bundle Card

Well, the worst is done.  Megan has "moved" into her apartment.  Her stuff that is, but not her yet.  We saw her apartment for the very first time on Friday.  She has a loft on the third floor.  We were all super nervous going in, but we did like it.  The move went pretty smooth.  It took 4 car loads to move the bulk of her stuff.  So happy that her living room furniture and bed were delivered today.  In a few more days, she will be officially living there.

I whipped this card together very quickly so my club people could see and use the products now available in the SAB catalog.

This paper is absolutely gorgeous.  I love all the muted colors and how they just somehow blend together.

One set of dies that I haven't used hardly at all are the Stitched with Whimsy.  I can never seem to get them to work with the size I need.  This time I made it work.  The flower and sentiment fit pretty good in this size die.

For a change, I didn't use any dimensionals.  That is a rarity for me since they are on almost every card I make.  I compensated for that by using the some pearls in the upper corner.

Like I said, I whipped this card together, and it was about 5:00 pm the night before club.  But, they liked it and were excited to see and use the new SAB items.   This stamp set and paper pack can be free with a $100 purchase.  It's only available this month and next.  Trust me, you will love this bundle.

New SAB Products!

Megan finally gets to see her apartment today for the first time!  Yayayay!  We are super excited for her.  The cars are gased and loaded up, ready for the hour drive in.  She has been working on repainting/staining some furniture pieces she has bought the past several months.  Some pieces still are not completed, but we can work on that during this next week.  I'm anxious to get everything done and out of our garage!

Are you excited for the new Mini and SAB catalogs?  They start today!!  For me, it's hard NOT to get excited.  I always love a new catalog.

This stamp set and DSP pack, Wonderful World, are from the new SAB catty.  You can get both FREE with a $100 purchase.  The paper is absolutely gorgeous.  We made a card in June's Club and they did really like this bundle.  Especially since I brought the rest of the DSP pack with me so they could get a hands on look at the paper itself.  So much better than just looking at the catty.

It's nice, bright and cheery.  Perfect for a summer day card.  I especially like to use Daffodil Delight during this time.  It's paired with Pear Pizzazz.  There were so many colors in the DSP, it was kind of hard to choose which one to use.

The flower I did color with my Stampin' Write Markers.  I didn't trust myself to use the ink pads and get the ink in the wrong places.  And of course, the butterflies were an perfect touch with the flowers.

Go and check out the new catalogs!  It's July, but time to start thinking about those Christmas cards!

Graduation Cards

It has been crazy in this house!  Megan gets the keys to her apartment Friday!  She's excited to finally see her actual apartment.  Up to now, she only did a Facetime preview with the apartment manager and that was showing a one-bedroom apartment.  She ended up getting the loft style apartment.  Boy, was Megan happy.  Those always intrigued her anyway.  So, there is no way of knowing how the furniture is going to fit since there are no dimensions online.  It's going to be a wild Friday.

This year, I needed two graduation cards.  I was so happy that this stamp set was still in my stash.  It's been retired for several years, but it's hard to find a set that has good numbers.  Plus, there are dies to match!

Our high school colors are Red and Black.  If you couldn't tell.  The black piece, I tore the top and bottom just to add a little dimension.

I was disappointed there was no "Class of" stamp in this set.  That would have made it perfect.  Instead, I improvised and just wrote it on the scroll.

Sorry, I don't have any dimensions on these cards.  But they are pretty straight forward to copy if you need.

Bogo Kits is Ending Soon

It's hard to believe this BOGO on the kits is ending in 3 days.  Have you taken advantage of the sale?

One special tip...enter your highest priced kit first.  When you add the second, the first goes half off!  Sweet!

All the kits are on the BOGO right now, excluding Paper Pumpkin of course.  I'm tempted by the Celebrate Today Magnet Board.  It's super cute to hang anywhere, especially in your craft room.  That way it's handy if you want to update or refresh it.

Don't Throw Away Those Scraps!

I was challenged to make a card using three different patterned paper.  My first thought was ughh.  It's going to be a tough one.  But in reality, it was easy.  Especially when you use three different papers from the same pack.  I decided to use Heart & Home DSP.

I chose a neutral, a more colorful pattern and a subtle pattern.  And it was really easy to make.  Basically, no measuring at all.

  • Cut any scrap piece of card stock to 5 x 3 3/4.  The color does not matter.
  • Choose three different patterns of decent size.  Line them up on the card stock you chose, as long as you don't see the card stock you have underneath.
  • Adhere down one piece at a time.
  • With the paper trimmer, from the back, trim off the excess paper.
  • Finish the card.

Make sure you chose large enough pieces.  This is what my card started out looking like.  Not so pretty.

Trimming the edges off was super easy.  Follow the lines!

For the doily, it's the Heart & Home Doilies pack.  The gray was a little harsh with my card, so I use the back.  Colored it with the Blending Brushes and Pale Papaya. I also like the imperfect coloring you can get with the brushes.   The doily was a little too large, so I cut it in half and tucked both ends under the ribbon.  You would have to look close to see it is smaller than normal.

My favorite part of this card was that there was hardly any measuring.  Line it up and go.  And you can position the patterned paper any way you want.

Also, don't forget some sparkle.  I used some Genial Gems, but just about anything you have would also work.

Tulip Fields are Retiring too soon

It was a busy weekend working on Megan's furniture.  We got so much done.  It was perfect weather to be outside painting.  It was drying so fast, that I was able to keep going, no waiting for things to dry.  This week I can help her ore and concentrate on applying polyurethane on her desk and a whole bunch of tables.  Moving day is coming up soon, July 1.

I made this card back is March and never posted it.  Who knows why.

My favorite part of the card?  The bicycle of course!  Before you cut it out with the die, use the adhesive sheets!  Adhere a piece to the back of the Basic Black and then cut out.  Instant sticker.

Here's what I did on the inside.  The lines aren't perfect, but that makes it homemade.  I couldn't resist stamping rows of the tulips on the bottom.  I lined the stamp on my grid paper then laid my acrylic block over the stamp.  This way I knew the stamp would be straight and not wonky.

I have fun with color on this card.  Tulips have to be colorful!  I know Misty Moonlight is retired, but in my defense, I made this card in March.  It wasn't retired then!  Anyway, it's easy to substitute just about any other blue in its place.

Keep in mind, this stamp set and dies are on the Retirement List.  Soon to be gone forever.  Have you checked it out lately?  Head to my SU! store and you can see them there.  You only have through June 30 if you want anything on the list.  I know there are some items that have already been sold out.

Using the Split Card Texture Dies

Did a storm blow through this afternoon.  The lightening and thunder was absolutely CRAZY!  It was constant for about 15 minutes.  One crack of thunder was so loud and close by, both Megan and I jumped out of our chairs.  What we didn't get was the rain.  It went right around us and towards the next town.  Glad we didn't get the hail.

We are making this card tonight in club.  New color.  New die.  New stamp set.  Hopefully it's a win with my people!

I'm trying the new Split Card Texture dies.  They look so fun I had to try them.  Plus, they will literally go with any stamp set or paper.   For this card, I used the grid texture.  The other die is floral.  But I thought too much floral on a single card might be a little too much.

The leaves are stamped in Versamark and heat set the white embossing powder.  At first I wasn't sure how it would look embossed, but the image came out very clean.  I loved the light/dark contrast.

The flower embellishments are the Loose Flower Flourishes.  The only part I'm not a fan of is that they are not adhesive backed.  So, instead, I put three tiny dots of glue on the card front and added the flowers directly on the glue.  The background paper is from the Pansy Patch DSP set.  The flowers were a perfect match for it.

Sensational Swirls Thank You Card

What a busy weekend!  For the most part, we were helping Megan build/refinish furniture pieces for her new apartment.  Her lease starts July 1st.  She is super excited to start the next chapter in her life.  Since her work is in Milwaukee, she will be moving to the big city.  It is truly what she wanted.  Chris built her a desk, again.  He likes her desk that he built for college, he took it over.  So, he had to build her another, smaller than the college desk.  I filled the cracks, sanded, and primed the base.  Wednesday I'm excited to start paint it.  She chose a dark bluish color.  Very typical of her, can't follow the norm.  She also worked on cleaning, painting and polyurethaning some pipes for a table.  We will see how that turns out.  I also primed a whole lot of other pieces, now ready for painting.  I'll show pictures when the projects are complete.

This was my Club's Thank you card from May.  Sentimental Swirls stamp set can really be used for just about any occasion. I haven't used it very much, but it could have been very addicting.  Adding the extra swirls, bird and flowers could be super fun.  Unfortunately, it is on the Retirement List.  BooHoo.  Grab it while you can!

I paired the stamp set with Mint Macaron and Highland Heather.  For the flowers, I didn't have the Stampin' Blends in Highland Heather.  Instead, I found  the watercolor pencil in the 2nd collection.  Perfect!

Sprinkled around the card you can see some Genial Gems.  And they were in Mint Macaron! I also added one in the middle of the flower.  Why?  Because I could.

I also wanted to show the versatility of this card.  It can be done horizontally or vertically. I honestly stamped the front parts and then decided to change the direction of the card.  It really didn't make any difference.  What's your preference?
