The bees are the best part!

Megan and I have been watching Downton Abbey.  It's definitely getting good.  There wasn't anything else that we could agree to watch together.  Megan was hesitant, but now is enjoying it with me.  We are on Season 3 and our favorite character just died.   Why do they always have to kill off the good people?

My friend does like her bees.  She decorates her tiered tray with them at some point during the year.  Making her a card with this DSP and the bee trinkets made this card easy to make.

Out of all the paper in the Heart & Home DSP pack, this is my favorite pattern.  I wish there was three sheets in the pack.

The side Cinnamon Cider pieces are embossed with the Hive 3D embossing folder.  Just another element of the life of bees.

So, when it was her birthday, I knew right away that I wanted to use this stamp set and paper.  Well, I wasn't the only one to think about using this paper.  Out other friend did also!  Look at both of our cards.  Mine is on the right, and the other is on the left.  We had a good laugh at this coincidence.

At least we didn't use the same sentiment on the front!

Birthday Presents!

Yes, it was my birthday yesterday.  I did have to work, but it was only a 4 hour shift.  Plus, it was a nice day, so I didn't mind bringing the groceries out to the cars.  I just wanted to show some of the homemade gifts I received.

This was a gift card purse we made in club this month.  (I haven't posted that yet.).   The clasp opens up to reveal the gift card.  It was inside the decorated mini Paper Pumpkin box.  I love how they are coordinated together.  I taught my boss/club member well!

Since seeing the tulips in Amsterdam 2019, I have a new love of them.

And my friends know that!

More tulips!  Love how these are the 3-d ones, made from the tulip dies.  Poppy Parade and Pale Papaya make for beautiful tulips.  The right piece is a cover for some chocolate.  Yum!  I could almost take it off the Pool Party piece and adhere it to another card.  How cool is that?

These are tulips, but I still love them!  The bottom is the card.  I don't have this stamp set, so I was excited to receive this.  The top right is a suepr cute box.  Inside was the wooden house you see on the left.  And it's two sided since there is different DSP piece on the other side.  It's the perfect size to put on a tiered tray or a shelf in my kitchen.

Aren't homemade presents the best?  I love them all!

It's always fun to see how people use Stampin' Up! in the gift giving.

Until next time...Stampin' Always,

Hand Penned Petals with In the Moment Birthday card

Do you have a long To-Do list for the week?  Mine isn't too bad.

  1. Make club thank you cards
  2. Make Aunt's birthday card
  3. Clean stamp room

The list could definately be worse, but then you haven't seen my stamp room either.  It's a disaster.  I've slowly started cleaning things up, but I keep getting distracted!  Can't believe that my room would be that bad, right?  Well, it is bad enough.

In the Moment stamp set has definitely grown on me.  Normally, I would have overlooked this one, but somehow I received it.  My club people do like this set, so they have been forcing me to use it.  Which is a good thing!

One of my club members just had a birthday, and she loves this set.  She also loved the Hand Penned Petals set as well.  So, I couldn't help combining the two she likes.

I colored the girl with my blending brushes.  Very carefully.  Trying to stay in the lines was a challenge.  The daubers would also work for this card.  The look fit right in with the Hand Penned DSP.  Both aren't colored in perfectly.

Look at the inside!  Now that's adding some detail.  The DSP is the same on the front and also the inside.

The detail is in the stamped flowers.  Don't they just make the inside?  They are seen when the card is closed, but wow.  When the card is opened,  it's stunning.  I love how it turned out.

Did you get the Island Vibes SAB stamp set?

Typical Wisconsin weather this weekend.  Yesterday, we ran errands in Janesville.  Besides being cloudy, the weather was great.  We didn't need to wear a jacket.  The perfect March day to run errands.  Today was another story.  Back to being cold.  I almost got a hot coffee this morning and I almost never get one of those.  After yesterday, it just felt even colder.  This whole week doesn't sound warm and pleasant. We can't put away those winter jackets yet.

We had so little time with the SAB stamp sets.  This Island Vibe and Special Moments will be sorely missed in my eyes.

This time I used the potted plant from the Island Vibes set.   I was very thankful that I only had to fussy cut out one of these plants.  Any more and it would have driven me crazy.  Any more and the card would have to be re-designed to avoid the fussy cutting.  Better yet.

I used the 2020-2022 In-Color Stampin' Write markers to color the potted plant.  I used Just Jade for the leaves, Cinnamon Cider for the stem and Misty Moonlight for the pot.

Keep in mind, these colors will be retiring soon.  I only wish SU! would keep Misty Moonlight.  Aren't we due for a Color Refresh?  Just as long as Misty Moonlight stays around.  Normally, I don't keep the retiring colors, but this might have to be an exception.

Underneath the card, you can see I also stamped the palm leaves on the bottom of the envelope.  I also did the same on the inside Basic White piece.  I hate sending a card with a naked envelope or inside.

Fun with the Otters and Re-inkers

This is the day.

Last day of SAB.

Last day to get the Awesome Otters stamp set.  And they are so incredibly adorable.  Plus, the stamp set is FREE with any $50 purchase.

Do you like the background paper?  I made it!  And it was so much fun to make.

First, find something that won't soak up water and re-inkers.  I used the largest stamping block, H.  You can also use the  silicone craft mat, wax paper, or even a disposable food container.

With the re-inkers, randomly place ink drops around the size of the watercolor paper.  Spritz generously with water.  This is what my block looked like once it was spritzed with water.   The drops literally bled together.  You can always run a toothpick through the ink and water to blend them even more.

Lay the watercolor paper over the drops/water.  Press down so the paper absorbs the water/ink combo.  Remove when the paper is covered.  Wipe down, gently, with a facial tissue.  This lightens up the color and also helps the drying time at the same time.

This my paper when I was done.  A few edges didn't get enough color, so I did touch up those areas.

While the paper is drying, stamp the otter, and also the party hat, in Memento and color with the Stampin' Blends.  Cut both out with the paper snips.  By the time you are done with that, the watercolor paper is dry and you can finish the card!  The timing can't be more perfect.

The otter is adhered directly to the watercolor paper.  But, I did use dimensionals on the party hat.

The "Happy Birthday" came from the Biggest Wish stamp set.  I used Memento ink for this.  Night of Navy was a consideration, but I wasn't sure if it would stand out enough.  And I couldn't do a test stamp either since I only made this single paper.

I may have to do this technique with my club.  They would LOVE  this.

Don't forget you can only get the Awesome Otters stamp set until tonight.

Pineapple Vibes...Yum!

Tomorrow is the last day of Sale-a-Bration!!

I can't believe that it ends tomorrow.  The time has gone way too fast.  But, then again, I lost the month of January being in South Carolina for three weeks.  So worth it, being able to spend time with my family.

If you need any SAB items, time runs out tomorrow, Monday night.

I have two favorite SAB stamp sets.  This is one of them, Island Vibes.  More specifically, the pineapple stamp.  Who doesn't love a good pineapple?

The pineapple could be colored one of two different ways.  One - color with the Stampin' Write markers.  Easy.  Two - carefully ink the stamp using the ink pads.  There is an invisible line between the stem and the pineapple body so it's not hard to use the ink pads for a change.  Usually the line doesn't cooperate well.

Aren't these colors perfect for fall?  I didn't think about that until just now when I saw these colors together.  Sure didn't get the fall vibe when looking at the card.

The only part that was tedious was cutting out the pineapple.  I made these for my club and I had to cut out 10 of these pineapples!  Yikes!  I don't know what I was thinking.  Fortunately, I was able to spread it out a bit.  Cut some pineapples, cut some paper, more pineapples, stamp some palm leaves.

The other stamp set I'll be missing is the Special Moments.  There are such good sentiments that could be used every day.  I wish they both wouldn't be going away so fast!

As usual, don't forget the inside.  One stamp of the palm leaves was enough for me here.

Blessing of Home Birthday Card

Megan and I are so happy...Chicago shows are back on!  It seems like with the Olympics, it's been forever since they were last on.  I got caught up on Med and Fire from when I travelled to see my Aunt.  Still have to catch up on PD.  It won't stop me from watching it tonight!

This is my debut card with the Blessing of Home stamp set.  I'm sure it will be seen quite a bit!

I used the Stampin' Blends to color the flowers.  This card was for my club.  So to keep it easy, I colored the flowers with just one shade of the blends.   It may look like I did, but I just colored a litle more in a few areas.  I recommend on using either all lights or all darks, not mixing the two. You can always use the regular Stampin' Write markers if you don't have the blends.

The bouquet is adhered with dimensionals.  The sentiment is laid over the bouquet and I used dimensionals just on the ends.  The flowers will hold it up in the middle.

Got ribbon?  When I designed this card, I didn't have any ribbon with me that matched.  My club members were given a choice to add one if they wanted.  One could easily be added by making a bow and adhering it with a glue dot.
