C ute Valentine card using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips Scissors:
- card from Sweet Sorbet Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" of yellow plaid pattern from Bee Mine 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/2" square from Crumb Cake Cardstock
- 2-1/4" square from Basic White Cardstock
- 1/2" x 5" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
- 1-1/4" x 3" of pink honeycomb pattern from Bee Mine 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
- large honey bottle with heart on it cut out by hand from Bee Mine 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
Pick out the large, half oval (bee hive) die from the Fluffiest Friends Dies. Put it on top of the Crumb Cake square on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Run through the machine.
Insert the bee hive cut out into the striped embossing folder included in the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders so the lines will go across the hive horizontally. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on the platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine and run through the machine.
Unlock the Double Oval Punch. Slide the strip of pink beehive Bee Mine Designer Paper into the punch and get it centered in the smooth oval punching area. Punch.
Adhere the oval punch out to the bottom of the dry embossed bee hive so it is centered side to side. Use Paper Snips Scissors to cut off excess designer paper along the bottom edge.
WITHOUT ADHERING, lay the bee hive cut out on the horizontal yellow plaid Bee Mine Designer Paper rectangle so it is centered side to side and the top is about 1/2" from the top edge.
Mount the set of three little bees image from the Fluffiest Friends Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the upper left and upper right corners of the horizontal yellow plaid rectangle around the bee hive as shown. Remember to re-ink the stamp each time and slightly vary the orientation of the stamp.
Now adhere the bee hive in place.
Unlock the Happy Labels Pick A Punch. Slide one short edge of the thin Daffodil Delight strip into the right side of the punch (the side of the punch with the smaller scallops) as far as it will go and get it centered. Punch.
As you are ready to stamp using the Bee My Valentine Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp.
Mount the "you're as sweet as honey" sentiment from the Bee My Valentine Set on Block H. Ink up the words "you're as sweet as" using the side of the brush tip of the Sweet Sorbet Marker. Ink up only the word "honey" using the side of the brush tip of the Crushed Curry Marker. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink. Stamp the sentiment in the center of the punched strip as close as possible to the left edge with the punched edge on the left.
Cut a 6" piece of the Sweet Sorbet 1/4" Bordered Ribbon.
Wrap the ribbon around the right end of the stamped sentiment strip so it is about 1" from the end of the sentiment. Tie in place with a knot. Trim the ends.
Adhere the stamped sentiment strip with ribbon attached to the bottom of the yellow plaid designer paper rectangle so it overlaps the bottom of the bee hive a tiny bit and there is about 1/4" of Daffodil Delight Cardstock between the ribbon and the right edge of the designer paper. Trim off excess cardstock on the right side using Paper Snips Scissors.
Adhere the designer paper to the front of the Sweet Sorbet card.
Mount the cat with potted flower image from the Fluffiest Friends Set on Block C. Ink it up with the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the white square.
Pick out the matching cat die from the Fluffiest Friends Dies. Put it on top of the stamped image on a platform on your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine so it is centered over the image. Run through the machine.
Place the cat with potted flower cut out on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Use the hobby blade from the Take Your Pick Crafter Tips on the Take Your Pick to carefully cut out the cats arms so you can slide something underneath and between them.
Place the cat cut out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Use the Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends to color in the cat's nose.
Use the Gray Granite Stampin' Blends Combo Pack, Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Combo Pack, and Medium Light Natural Tones Stampin' Blends to color in the rest of the cat as shown to make it look like a tabby cat.
Use the Color Lifter Stampin' Blends to remove any excess color and blend the edges.
Don't worry about coloring in the flower or pot as they will be covered.
If you haven't already done so, use Paper Snips Scissors to cut out the large honey jar with the heart on it from the Bee Mine Designer Paper. Use the scissors to cut down the side edges so the jar is only about 9/16" wide.
Use the Gray Granite Stampin' Blends Combo Pack or Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends Combo Pack to color the white space inside the bow loops.
Put Stampin' Seal on the back of the colored and cut down jar and slide it under the cat's paws as shown.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the cat cut out to the front of the card as shown so it overlaps the right side of the bee hive and the top of the sentiment strip a bit.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up 1 small and 2 large red hearts from a sheet of Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers making sure that you get the adhesive backings as well. Adhere them to the front of the card as shown.
