Silver 50th Birthday

Why does the weekend go so fast? Yesterday I spent going to LaCrosse to get a load of Megan's stuff.  She's done Thursday!  Now, when she is done with exams, she can just finish packing her car and come home.  Today, Chris and I celebrated his grandma's birthday with the rest of the family.  Done.  And tomorrow is back to work.  The weekend should be at least 3 days. Don't you agree?

I was asked to make a 50th Birthday card for someone.  It was my first request to make a card.  There were no favorite colors to work with.  But more importantly no colors to specifically avoid.  So, I got free range to do just about anything.

The basic idea I got from Pinterest, and tweaked it to my liking.  It's hard to tell, but the Basic Black background is embossed with the Trellis Garden embossing folder.  I wanted a subtle background pattern that won't take away from the 50.

For the 50, I used the silver stamp pad we retired several years ago.  I couldn't let myself part with it.  If you didn't have any ink pad, you could use the Silver Embossing Powder.  By using that, you would still get the white outline on the number like you see in the picture.  The Silver Foil sheets would also be another good alternative if you have that on hand.

The ribbon around the Whisper White piece is the only ribbon that I have which includes silver.  We currently have the Silver 3/8 Metallic-Edge would be a perfect match too.

I really like how this turned out.  Can you picture it in Gold?  I sure can.  In fact, I asked if the recipient was partial to gold or silver.  Even mixing both metals in a card like this would be awesome.

By the way, I heard the person who received this card really loved it.  I was so glad to hear that because I was worried they wouldn't.  Crazy right?  Home-made cards are the best.
