Grape Dragonfly

Someone at work asked me to make a birthday card for her roommate.  She likes the colors blues, purples and grays and is a girly girl. I showed her some other cards I made and loved the dragonfly  and hedgehog stamp sets.  I was going to make a few for her to choose from.  Here is the first one I made.

Purple is definately not a go-to color for me so I was glad to be challenge into use it.  I chose the Gorgeous Grape.

Using the Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink pads, I used the Rock 'n Roll technique on the dragonfly.  It's a very subtle effect this time, but if you look on the lower edges on the wings, you can see the color differences.

For the dots under the dragonfly, I found the stamp from Waterfront was perfect.  They were stamped in Gray Granite and Soft Sea Foam.  They add a nice compliment to the Gorgeous Grape.

Since purple isn't my best color, so, of course, I didn't have any purple ribbon.  So I made my own.  Just ink a piece of sponge and run it along the Organza Ribbon.  Wham!  You have Gorgeous Grape Organza Ribbon!  Make sure you color both sides of the ribbon.  It turns out pretty good and it's fun to do.

Here is the color combo for the card.  Very subtle.
