Floral Essence Birthday Card

Today I got a whole day off!  It's so incredibly busy with online orders, that I actually felt guilty for being off.  But, this could be my only day off, so I took it.  Plus, I only received one distress call from them.  Alyssa had to work this morning and was actually surprised to see me at home.  She assumed I would have received a call to come in.

My supervisor's birthday is actually a week from today.  I actually planned ahead and made her card today!  Wish I could get better about planning ahead.  Things always seem to be sneaking up on me.

I had no idea what my supervisor's likes are, so I went floral.  It's been a while since I used Floral Essence Stamp Set.

The flower it stamped and then cut out.  It's a relatively flower to cut out.  I added a clear faceted jem on the inside too.

The Happy Birthday is from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set.  It was in the SAB catalog.  It's embossed on the vellum using the white embossing powder.  Be careful when embossing on vellum. If the heat is not moved around enough, it would turn that part brown.

The one thing I do not like about using vellum is adhering it to the card base.  In this case, I cut the vellum an inch longer then the Balmy Blue.  Center the sentiment and fold around, using glue dot to adhere it to the back.  Do this on both sides and it looked pretty good.  I did add a few tiny dots of the multipurpose liquid glue under 2 places that had a lot of embossing.  My piece was buckling a little and that helped hold it in place.

She appreciated my Christmas card, so I think  (and hope) she will like this.
