Welcome Dino!

What a weekend.  I need another day to recoop from the past two days.  Yesterday, we had to move Alyssa out of her house and into her new apartment at college.  We got it done in about 4 van loads, or was it 5.  At one point, there wasn't room for me in the van because of the mattress, so I amused myself and brought  everything I could downstairs on the outside porch.  Then, I stayed at her new place and started to clean/vaccuum.  The mom instinct came out and I had to clean her bathroom!

Today, we went to a large flea market.  We found a few things, but nothing big.  Back home to get ready for my Floral or Sailing Event on Tuesday.  My four cards are now done and I just have to prep one last card.

Now, I wanted to show you Penni's Swap Card.

Aren't these guys adorable?  I don't typically do kids cards because my club doesn't have a need for them.  But, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy getting one in a swap!

It's a straight forward card, but with lots of cuts using the dies and Big Shot.  Takes patience to put this together, but totally worth it.

Hope you liked her card.  Even if you aren't into dinosaurs, it's an adorable stamp set.

The First Christmas Card of 2019

Hard to believe that we are already thinkng about Christmas.  Another swap I participated in was Christmas themed.  Oh, I so wished I had one of the new stamp sets from the new Holiday catalog!  I am super excited because my pre-order should be here by Tuesday!  One perk of being a demonstrator!

It's a very mono-chromatic card.  Very Vanilla with a touch of Pear Pizzazz and gold.

The Woodland Embossing folder was the perfect backdrop for the deer.  The trees are from the Waterfront Stamp Set and talk about a perfect size!  I was just lucky to be browsing my stamp sets and came across this gem.  Waterfront is not the stamp set I go to for Christmas cards.

I added the pearl by the deer neck, just for a little detail.   Now looking at it, I should have put two smaller  pearls on either side of this one.  Would totally give the look of a necklace.

Well, here's the first Christmas card of 2019.  There will be plenty more to come!

Over the Top Magnolia

I actually started this card recipe last night with the intentions of posting this card.  Well, obviously didn't work.  The details in this card are almost overwhelming, so was creating the card recipe.  I participated in several card swaps, and one category was Over The Top.  That means embellishments, ribbon, bling, and anything of that sort.

This card stressed me out and actually took me 3 days to complete.  I was SO VERY THANKFUL that I only had to make 3 of these. I was so over this card, I didn't even make one for myself.

Here it is:

And the photo doesn't do it justice.

I stamped and embossed on vellum.  That's a new one for me.  Then the flowers are colored with Blueberry Bushel and Bermuda Bay.  The leaves are Mint Macaron and Granny Apple Green.  I was surprised myself by how they looked together, expecially the two different greens.

Also, I've never used Blender Pens on vellum.  You get a little bit more play time with the inks than just on Whisper White, but not much.  To my surprise, it did dry rather quickly. I suggest coloring one petal/leaf at a time.  The colors will blend better that way.

The large magnolia flower is actually stamped and embossed twice.  For one of them, I cut out the petals around the flower center and used dimensionals to adhere it right over the top of the other one.  I should have taken a picture so you could see the layers on this card.  Sorry about that one.

I have never used this many dimensionals a single card like I did this one.  Almost everything is adhered with dimensionals of some kind.  Just make sure to place the dimensionals in areas that have a lot of embossing so you can't see them through the vellum.  The other glue used was the Fine Tip Glue.  Be very sparingly with it and again, stick to the dark colored/embossed areas so you can't see it.

Now, every Over the Top card needs some pearls.  I added them in three areas of the card.  The top of the magnolia, right side of the magnolia, and in the bottom ^ of the magnolia.  There are 15 pearls on each card made.  Now I only have 2 sheets of pearls open, not three!  It's a pet peeve of mine having multiples of items opened and partly used.

I do absolutely love how this one turned out.  My taste is definately leans more towards the clean and simple so this card definately put me out of my comfort zone.  And that is a good thing.

One thing is for sure, I will definately be coloring more on vellum.

Floral Wedding Card

What a week.  I finally finished repainting and organizing Megan's bedroom.  She came home from her mission trip to a brand new room.  I was so happy she liked and appreciated all my hard work.  Gone was the pink and green room.  Welcome the calming blue/gray room.

She was in a wedding several weekends ago.  It was a very good friend and Megan wanted me to make her a wedding card.  I refused, stating she needed to make it for her own friend.  She wanted floral, she got it.

There is a lot going on in this card, but it all came together.  We used some current stamp sets, along with some retired.  Here are the stamp sets used:

I never would have thought to use that particular saying on the front of a wedding card: Never Understimate the Power of Two.  Megan LOVE it said it fit them perfectly.  I didn't try to change her mind.

The colors are very bright and that is what Megan was going for.  Greata for a summer wedding.   I made her stamp most everything, but did help with some of the fussy cutting.  The magnolia buds are also colored with Stampin' Blends by her.  It was her first time using them.  She chose the colors herself.  Take a look at them:

I like how it turned out.  Once we figured out a design, the rest just fell into place.  Megan definately knew wha she didn't want and that is also very good to know.

By the way, her friend really loved the card!

With Sympathy

So, this is take two of this blog post.  I hit something on my laptop and it all went bye-bye.  I hate when that happens.

I hate it when I need a sympathy card.  Who doesn't?

Once I stamped the flower, I colored it with the Rich Razzleberry Blends.  I really need to purchase the Blackberry Bliss Blends. It's on my never ending wish list.  On the other hand, the Rich Razzleberry really does lighten up the card.

Unfortunately, the flower had to be hand cut out.  I know, yuck, but it's only one flower and not too hard to fussy cut.  Don't forget to use the dimensionals when adhering the flower.  It's also colored with the Wink of Stella.

Quick and Simple Floral Essence

Yesterday, I did say that I would post a card using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  It's a Quick and Simple card.

I paired the dies with the Floral Essence Stamp set and the Perennial Essence DSP.

The paper is so beautiful all by itself.  Sometimes adding more stamping, takes away from its beauty.  It is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  Wouldn't it be a shame if you hid the paper?

It's a simple design, but glammed up a bit by using the Organdy Striped Ribbon and Pearls.  It can be simple, but those little details make a huge difference.

I'm Back!

What a crazy week it was.  Alyssa and I flew out to Pittsburgh, PA.  I have cousins that live out there.  We then drove with one cousin, and three kids (the cousin who came with was their aunt) to visit my aunt in South Carolina.  Talk about crazy!!  But it was also very fun.

One day, Alyssa and I took the kids and went into Charleston.  We saw Fort Sumter, marketplace and did a horse drawn tour of the city.  The kids heard about Fort Sumter in school, but were anxious to actually see it.  Adding to the excitement was the boat ride to and from the Fort.  We actually saw a few dolphins on the way back.

Since I've been gone, I haven't been in my stamp room.  Tomorrow I will have something new to share.  While I was gone, my order arrived.  I can't wait to get my hands on the Stitched Nested Labels Dies!

Check back tomorrow to see what I created using these dies!
