Whitewash Magnolia

The one thing my girls collect on their trips are original paintings.  Or street art.  With all the travelling they both did while studying abroad, they have collected quite a few pictures that need to be framed.  So, I thought I would go to some rummage sales and try to pick some up.  It's the cheapest way for the number of paintings they have.  I was soooo disappointed.  There were 2 rummage sales in town today and neither one had pictures frames.  Seriously, I haven't gone to rummage sales in so long, but only 2 in town?  It's not heard of.  Maybe next weekend I'll try again.

Card #2.

Isn't this card stunning?  It's done with a whitewash technique.  I saw it on Pinterest and HAD to do it right away.

The image is stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder.  Take your aqua painter and your White Craft pad and color away.  I had to go over the flower a few times to get the look, but LOVE the outcome.  I will be using this technique again.

When coloring with the Craft White, don't worry about the inside gold embossed lines.  The embossing resists the ink.

For the center, I used a sponge dauber and Petal Pink ink pad.  Start in the center and kind of brush outward.  This way you get the concentrated pink in the center, and gradually fades out.

We did this for my event this week.  The people were in love with this card.  It was a new technique they haven't heard of and were excited to make it.  I love seeing them get so excited in making a card.  It makes my job even more worthwhile.
