Don't Throw Away Those Scraps!

I was challenged to make a card using three different patterned paper.  My first thought was ughh.  It's going to be a tough one.  But in reality, it was easy.  Especially when you use three different papers from the same pack.  I decided to use Heart & Home DSP.

I chose a neutral, a more colorful pattern and a subtle pattern.  And it was really easy to make.  Basically, no measuring at all.

  • Cut any scrap piece of card stock to 5 x 3 3/4.  The color does not matter.
  • Choose three different patterns of decent size.  Line them up on the card stock you chose, as long as you don't see the card stock you have underneath.
  • Adhere down one piece at a time.
  • With the paper trimmer, from the back, trim off the excess paper.
  • Finish the card.

Make sure you chose large enough pieces.  This is what my card started out looking like.  Not so pretty.

Trimming the edges off was super easy.  Follow the lines!

For the doily, it's the Heart & Home Doilies pack.  The gray was a little harsh with my card, so I use the back.  Colored it with the Blending Brushes and Pale Papaya. I also like the imperfect coloring you can get with the brushes.   The doily was a little too large, so I cut it in half and tucked both ends under the ribbon.  You would have to look close to see it is smaller than normal.

My favorite part of this card was that there was hardly any measuring.  Line it up and go.  And you can position the patterned paper any way you want.

Also, don't forget some sparkle.  I used some Genial Gems, but just about anything you have would also work.
